今年以来，全球股市等市场的混乱局面推动了避险需求，使得金价被大幅推高。凯投宏观(Capital Economics)指出，过去一个月，避险需求使得金价大幅走高，尽管此前美联储在去年12月有升息。
交易商iiTrader在周三（1月20日）发布的报告中称，本周剩下的交易日应该都是黄金的好日子，股市再受重挫，标普已跌至去年7月的低点1831。
Triland Metal认为，虽然黄金目前依然是没有人感兴趣的交易，但今年年初的上涨并不算意外。Triland Metals的分析师称，金价依然在1071至1097美元 盎司的区域内。
本周一美国马丁路德金节日，市场休市，因此黄金市场交投也比较清淡，金价变动不大。Triland Metals表示，金价正在等待突破，以决定下一步的走向。
数据显示，去年12月印度进口的黄金量出现了比较明显的上涨。12月印度进口了105吨黄金，尤其是12月第一周和第四周金价出现大幅下跌的情况下，印度黄金进口有所增长。
美国COMEX 2月黄金期货价格周四(1月14日) 收盘下跌13 50美元，跌幅1 20%，报1073 60美元 盎司。今日黄金录得本月最大单日跌幅，同时收盘价刷新了1月5日以来的最低位。
国际现货黄金周三（1月13日）在低开之后止跌上涨，但强势美元和股市的反弹限制了黄金向上的动能，黄金作为避险资产的吸引力有所下降。
1月12日，上海黄金交易所发布通知称，为加强黄金市场基础设施建设，提高银行间黄金询价交易流动性，促进价格发现，于2016年1月正式启动银行间黄金询价市场做市业务。
2016年，在避险情绪的助推下，金价迎来“开门红”，尽管上周五（1月8日）的非农数据强劲，黄金仍然无所畏惧的守稳1100美元。
2016年第一周的黄金市场表现堪称抢眼，金价大幅走高超过4%，即使是上周五亮眼的非农数据也没能太大程度的影响金价。周一(1月11日)亚市开后，金价在1104美元 盎司左右。
