三菱电机的外汇分析师在周一（1月22日）发布的报告中表示，由于美国政府第三日关闭，黄金价格已经从上周的高点回落，但仍然“相当高”。黄金上周连续第五周上涨，现货金一度触及1345美元/盎司的区域，为9月以来的最高水平。
三菱表示：“本周大部分时间里黄金都受到美元走软的支撑，因为担心美国国会将无法就政府资金达成协议，导致政府关闭。周六确实发生了关门事件。上周晚些时候对此进行定价后，随着市场重新开放，黄金受到轻微抛售压力的影响，但仍然维持在较高水平，如果长时间停摆将进一步上涨，导致投资者对美国经济增长的信心下降和波动加剧。”
不过，分析人士指出，美国和其他地区股市依然强劲。“表现强劲的股票和其他风险资产对黄金趋于负面。然而，越来越多的对冲高风险股票和公司债券而交易黄金的证据有助于解释为什么黄金在这个表面上具有挑战性的环境中继续保持自己的地位。”
